Public Bar
The comfortable surrounds of the recently refurbished Public Bar lends itself to all types of clientele, with good food, ale and wines to suit the discerning palate of todays more expectant customer. The open log fire has people rushing to the library corner in winter time.
On offer are a large selection of new and old world wines by the glass or bottle, also Sparkling Wine, Champagne and Champagne Cocktails. Our wine boards have up to six whites and six reds and change regularly, not so many of todays hostelries can match the quality and variety.
With a choice of three regular and two guest real ales all quality guaranteed by the ‘Cask Marque’ accreditation , real ale officiados keep coming back for more. Theaktons, Deuchars and Directors the very popular regular house ales. As a freehouse we also offer a wide variety of lager and beer keeping up to date with modern trends, ‘Extra Cold’, ‘Super Chilled’ , Kronenbourg Blanc white beer, as well as the local's favourites, Carling, Kronenburg and Fosters.
We at Fence Gate feel the phrase ‘pub food’ does not do our cuisine justice. A bill of fare comprising a modern blend of local, national and international influences, all made with the freshest finest ingredients.
On offer a seasonally changed menu combining some brasserie dishes with a sumptuous variety of open sandwiches, sausages from our very own KB’s Sausage Factory, Pie Shop and Gourmet Burger Bar. A Plat de Jour board changes daily featuring upto 8 specials. Homemade desserts and a range of teas & coffees are also available.
